Undersea

This book design was part of our Editorial Design module at university in my second year. I enjoyed the challenge of this module, despite struggling initially with the limitations we were set with our design choices. We were given the choice between two texts to use for our book, and then were able to design the book around that. We were limited with only using type or simple shapes for this, and recommended that we don’t take the Undersea text too literally. From my research, I really liked large text that took up lots of space, so this is seen throughout. I tried to stick along with a theme of layering and varying sizes through this book, to link to these things seen in the ocean. I designed, printed and bound this entire book, and the process of this was really interesting, since it was my first time binding my own book. I used perfect binding, with a perfect fold. I learned a lot from this module, especially with editorial design, and book binding.
