Curio: The Wonder of Cabinets of Curiosities

Curio: The Wonder of Cabinets of Curiosities is my final year major project at University. This project gave us full control over the topic we picked and what we made from it. For this project, I looked into Cabinets of Curiosities. I delved into them, learning about how and where they started, how they evolved, and what they look like now.

I decided to create my own cabinet of curiosity as a miniature exhibition, accompanying guide book and tickets. My book introduced cabinets of curiosities, discussed what they are and their history, as well as their modern counterparts. It then went through the objects contained within my cabinet. These objects are from my friends and I, and they’re all sentimental or meaningful to us in some way. Throughout this book sit single pages of tracing paper with an image of the cabinet’s doors, to represent looking through the doors as the book progresses. The opening and closing pages are also tracing paper prints of the cabinet doors to link to the opening and closing of the cabinet doors at the start and end of looking through it.
